MYOFASCIAL CUPPING

Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial cupping is a technique adapted from Chinese medicine style cupping where a suction gun is used to take air out of the cups in order to allow direct suction of the cups to areas of the body. Another style of cupping may involve using flame to create a pressure gradient thus allowing suction to be create by the cup over the area of the body.  The cups are then either left on the area for a short amount of time, or may be glided, rotated and twisted gently to allow for soft tissue release.

This technique is used to promote healing by increasing the blood flow to the area, regain normal range of motion by stretching the underlying muscle and connective tissue as well as deactivating trigger points.
